Modern Warfare 3 Review

Modern Warfare 3 kicks off where modern warfare 2 ended. You are literally dropped straight into the action and then never lets up.

In this explosive action packed tour of the world you go from one spectacular set piece to the next.

The mechanics of the game have not changed much. You still have to keep moving forward until you reach a certain point otherwise your enemies keep re-spawning. Your game automatically saves when you reach checkpoints and crouching and taking cover is the name of the game to avoid being killed.

The weapons vary from new and old ones you have seen before and in some missions there is the variety of being able to use a laptop to call and control drone strikes and there is the ever fun use of being able to use the mini-gun on a moving helicopter.

There are some great scene setting missions such as the under water attack of a submarine, chasing a London underground train by truck and protecting a president from a assault of an airborne plane.

There sometimes can be too much going on and its not always easy in a big fire-fight to pick out your enemies. This coupled with the short campaign which on average may take only 8 hours to play through, are the only real gripes with the game. It may be an idea to play the game on the Hardened difficulty setting rather than the default normal one so as to make the campaign to last longer.

There will be those who really buy MW3 for the multi-player experience. Multi-player is as fast passed as ever. Through the new point streak and strike package system, team work and objective based play is encouraged but the assault strike package still allows for the traditional kill streaks.

Modern Warfare 3 is a better game than the previous 3 call of duty games and although it may have not changed greatly in terms of gameplay it is one of the most exciting and best of it's kind around.
